6月9日中午，爱德曼·华特孔子课堂的两位老师叶李贝贝和黄冰在该中学开展了端午节文化工作坊，七年级的学生及老师近三十人参与了本次活动。

首先，黄冰老师为学生讲解了端午节的历史，将爱国诗人屈原可歌可泣的故事融入其中，并将小故事印制成卡片发放给学生，供学生课外阅读。通过形象化的图片，帮助学生了解中国人过端午节的习俗，如挂艾叶，喝雄黄酒，吃粽子，赛龙舟等。为了契合赛龙舟的主题，黄冰老师现场教学生折纸船。当学生们成功制造出属于自己的小船，每个人都兴奋地手舞足蹈起来。最后，两位老师端出新鲜出炉的粽子，解释粽子如何吃，筷子如何使用。第一次尝试吃粽子，学生都觉得新奇有趣，每个人都吃得津津有味。活动结束后，意犹未尽的孩子们纷纷要求将筷子带回家使用，向他们的家人传达来自中国节日的祝福。

端午节是中国的传统节日，有丰富多彩的过节习俗，在英国让当地的孩子体验这一传统，能吸引他们对中国文化产生浓厚的兴趣。参加完这次工作坊，学生和老师都表示加深了对中国文化的理解，甚至希望能去中国看一看，感受中国的优秀文化。

Confucius Institute at Alderman White School held the Duanwu Festival Cultural Workshop
Teachers of Confucius Classroom at Alderman White School brought an interesting cultural activity on the Dragon Boat Festival to nearly 30 teachers and students of Year 7.
Huang Bing explained the Dragon Boat Festival history and told the story of Qu Yuan to the students as well as gave them some flash cards for afterschool reading. With several of pictures, Huang Bing introduced the traditions of the Festival including hang Aiye plant, drink Xionghuang wine, wear sachet, etc.
The teachers then taught the students how to make a paper boat. It was really difficult for the students but everyone made a boat successfully at the end. The last section is to taste the traditional food Zongzi, a totally new and mysterious food. The students got very curious and tried the Zongzi with chopsticks. They liked it so much that some of them asked to bring the chopsticks home so that they can introduce the traditional Chinese cultural to their family.
Dragon Boat Festival is one of the important traditional festivals of China, to introduce it to teachers and students will help us to promote Chinese language and culture locally. After the workshop, the students showed a lot of interest in coming to more sessions about China, and even visiting China in the future.
