Confucius Institute Affairs Office

To promote the global exchanges of Chinese language and culture, Fudan University has jointly established seven Confucius Institutes with partner universities overseas. These Confucius Institutes focus primarily on Chinese language teaching, while also hosting China-themed cultural events, thereby providing more and better opportunities and services for international exchange and cooperation. The seven Confucius Institutes established by Fudan University are:

• Confucius Institute in Auckland

• Confucius Institute Frankfurt

• Confucius Institute Hamburg

• Confucius Institute for Scotland in University of Edinburgh

• Confucius Institute at the University of Nottingham

• Confucius Institute at the University of Sydney

• Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg

The Confucius Institute Affairs Office of Fudan University was established in May 2012. It is responsible for the coordination, support, and overall management of the seven Confucius Institutes co-established by Fudan University. Its main responsibilities include:

1. Managing the work related to the seven Confucius Institutes co-established by Fudan University and partner universities;

2. Coordinating daily communication and cooperation with partner institutions abroad, as well as facilitating exchanges and routine affairs among the seven Confucius Institutes;

3. Working with relevant university departments and schools to recruit, select, dispatch, and manage Chinese directors, Chinese language teachers, and volunteer teachers for the Confucius Institutes;

4. Providing consultation and guidance services for Chinese directors, teachers, and volunteer teachers dispatched to the Confucius Institutes;

5. Planning and implementing overseas educational development and cultural promotion programs related to Confucius Institute projects;

6. Receiving overseas delegations visiting China;

7. Offering support and services for reserve Chinese teachers of Confucius Institutes based at Fudan University;

8. Promotion and Communications related to the Confucius Institutes, the “Chinese Studies Program” PhD Fellowships, and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship;

9. Undertaking other related tasks.
